Fertility Semen Analysis Request

The Regional Andrology Service (RAS) is a fertility investigation service available to GPs and hospital Trusts in the Northern Trust, South Eastern Trust and Belfast Trust areas only.

The service is not available for post-vasectomy checks.

Making a referral -

Requests will only be accepted from registered medical practitioners. Patients cannot ‘self-refer’.

  • From 01st February 2018, all GP Requests for Fertility Semen Analysis should be processed via the electronic CCG referral system. This mean that requests are sent directly to the Regional Andrology Service for processing. For guidance on the new CCG referral pathway refer to the NHS GP website. • GPs with no access to CCG should print a Fertility Semen Analysis Request  Form and post it to
    Regional Fertility Centre,
    RJMS,
    Belfast HSC Trust,
    Grosvenor Road,
    Belfast,
    BT12 6BA.
Please note: As the Andrology laboratory is a UKAS accredited laboratory, we are required to ensure the correct  version and uptodate review date is on the Request Form. This means the original hard copy request form you have used in the past may become invalid if the form has since been reviewed.  As we are unable to accept invalid forms, we will be required to return the form to you for resubmission.
  • Hospital departments may refer using the Semen Analysis Request Form Fertility Semen Analysis Request Form

Male details must include the health and care number for the patient.

Appointments

On receipt of the request we will send the patient a letter inviting them to book an appointment at a time suitable to them.

Results

We do not issue results directly to the patient. The result will be sent back to the referrer, usually within 2 weeks of the appointment.
